1 Weight
figures are for medium weapons. A small weapon weighs half as much, and
a Large weapon weighs twice as much.

2 When
two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies “and,”
or either type (player’s choice at time of attack) if the entry
specifies “or.”

An iron-shod staff is a
sturdy quarterstaff reinforced with metal (typically iron or steel) at each
end. It is somewhat more cumbersome than a standard quarterstaff, and hence
is classed as a martial weapon. In all respects except for proficiency, it can
be treated as a quarterstaff. For instance, a character with the feat Weapon Focus (quarterstaff) can apply the bonus to iron-shod staff.

The iron-shod staff is
a special monk weapon, allowing it to be used as part of a monk‘s flurry of
blows. However, monks are not automatically proficient with it.
