Epidaurus is a small independent city with its supporting territory it forms the small territory called Epidauria. Its both the birthplace and home of Apollo's son, Asclepius the healer.

Epidaurus is known for the asclepieion at the most celebrated healing center of the Hellenic world. There are also mineral springs in the vicinity which are used in the healing process.

Asclepius , brings prosperity to the sanctuary this prosperity enables Epidauros to construct civic monuments including the huge theater that delight's due to its symmetry and beauty.
